Murray Hill and Caboose Status Report, August 15, 2009
The Murray Hill and caboose, Frisco 1157, get some paint!

The Murray Hill Car and Frisco 1157 Caboose are sporting some fresh new paint, logos and lettering.  The preparation involved more than 8 months of corrosion removal, cleaning, sheet metal work interspersed with plumbing, pneumatic systems repairs, and lots and lots of perspiration. Ouch!!

The proof is in the shining.  In a few days the Murray Hill
will receive it's green paint finish, then decals!

Murray Hill and Caboose Status Report, September 14, 2008
The Murray Hill passenger rail car became a part of a multi-project restoration in Tulsa, Oklahoma as project Manager Mike Massey, Ed Massey and a crew of volunteer workers tackled rusted metal and deteriorated wood to bring the old passenger car back to life.  Their efforts with the Frisco 4500 gave them many hours of experience in rebuilding, repairing and replacing parts on these historic iron pieces.

Well, it's a beginning and there is already some significant progress in the restoration of the Murray Hill Passenger Car near Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Volunteer workers are refinishing parts a piece at a time.  The restoration is a companion project to the Frisco 4500 project that began in 2004.  We have also located a caboose to become part of the west side Tulsa train display.  September 2008

Frisco 4500 Status Report, November 1, 2006

Frisco 4500 was moved to Tulsa from Owasso on October 9, 2004 thanks to railroad friends.

What's in store for the Frisco 4500 next?
Westside planning team members are working on a site placement for the 4500 that will be near the Cherokee Yard in West Tulsa.  The primary site is located about 3700 Southwest Boulevard, across from the entrance to Webster High School.  Funding for the site is part of the Tulsa Vision 2025 projects package.

How can I work on the restoration of the Frisco 4500 Engine?
Restoration Manager Mike Massey has safety equipment and tools available for Sertoma Club members to work each Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., barring emergencies.

What must I do to become part of the restoration crew?
The Townwest Sertoma Club encourages railroad enthusiasts to come and lend a hand on the pre-painting scraping and cleaning.  The liability insurance requirements limit workers to Sertoma Club members.  You can be an active member of any Sertoma Club. If you are not a member and are interested, please contact Townwest Secretary Randy McGoffin for information.
